St. Mary’s National School, Knockcroghery, is situated in the picturesque village of Knockcroghery, mid-way between the towns of Roscommon and Athlone in the parish of Knockcroghery. The present school was opened in 1960, replacing the old school which now serves as a Community Centre. The school was a 2-teacher school until 1999. A classroom, office, support room and GP room were added in 2004. A further 2 classrooms were added in 2006 and again in 2017, 2 classrooms and 2 support rooms were added . A specialist A.S.D. unit was constructed and opened in 2008.
Presently the school has a Principal, 6 Mainstream class teachers, 3 Support Teachers , Part-time Support Teacher, 3 Class Teachers in the A.S.D. unit and 10 Special Needs Assistants.
Fr. Ray Milton is the Chairperson of our Board of Management.
